Visualising - The Sea Creature from the Deep, Yrs 0-4

Visualising ~ Art activity for years 0-4

What? We are learning to visualise by drawing a creature using the description in a poem.

Why? Artists often visualise or imagine something before they begin their work. They have an image or picture in their head. This helps them plan their work and have a clearer idea of what they are doing.

How?

1. Read this poem (at least twice). As you are reading, think carefully about how the author is describing the sea creature. You will begin to see this creature appear in your mind’s eye!Bitmoji Image

2. After reading the poem a couple of times, draw a picture of the creature.

3. Colour it in and make it look amazing!

4. Take a photo of your sea creature from the deep and upload it to the padlet.

I wonder if yours will look anything like someone else’s?

The Sea Creature from the Deep

There once was a sea creature from the deep,

Across the bumpy sea floor she’d often creep.

Scaly, slimy, yellow and green,

With a golden, jewelled crown she was the Queen.

Three bulgy eyes, six legs and a snout,

Whenever she ate, her four ears would pop out!

She gurgled and hummed throughout her days,

Down in the deep forever she stays.
